2020 10 13 - State Park, Myre-Big Island

Today we were supposed to be working. There wasn't any work that we wanted so we had drove from our work to Albert Lea as Albert Lea has a nicer motel. When there still wasn't any work after 1 PM we decided to talk a walk and this park is the closest by many miles.

Trees have lost most of their leaves since we were here almost a month ago. We knew some of the trails were closed from last time so we walked the same trail backwards to keep from taking the wrong turns.

We did see one group and one single person on the first part of our walk. And with the leaves so think it was easy to loose the trail if you didn't know where it went. I would not advise walking these trails near dark.

Because we didn't take the closed trails this time, it was a short walk. So we thought we'd walk another few minutes just past the buildings.

And then we saw the pelicans and I started trying to pictures from a better angle.

I got this phone because it was supposed to have a better camera. Not so far. This is the best shot I could get of the pelicans. But at least was saw some wildlife today.

Then my wife wanted to walk out to the small island. All there was there was a boat dock, an out house and two walk in camping sites. Sign said guests only but it was empty so we walked out to see the sites.

Then I saw a couple of more pelicans and walked down near the water. Down there we found a trail as wide as a cow path and followed it. Until it ended amid some fallen trees. Will all the leaves we couldn't find the trail again and decided to walk cross country through the brush, that is where we found the stickers.

We spent quite a while picking the stickers out and then someone started talking to us about all of the walks they had been taking.

Once we had all the stickers picked off of both of us we walked the last stretch back to the car.

Today's trip was closer to two hours with the pictures and the stickers. Interesting MapMyWalk today, part of time we are showing as walking in/on the water :) But it showed we walked almost two miles. And some of the back and forth was pretty close to accurate.
