2021 07 08 - Duluth Canal Lake Walk - Duluth MN

The boardwalk area looks a little different than on our last walk.

... and our last walk was in Duluth over a month ago? We need to get out more.

This time we are on our way to Grand Marias for our annual vacation. We have been going up there most years for the last 15+ years in mid July and most years we have been stopping one night on the way to, and sometimes, from Grand Marias.

We ended up doing three short walks in our short stay there.

Our 1st walk was late afternoon and we walked about a half mile up near the Endion Station Inn. My wife was concerned that I wanted to turn around already making it such a short walk. At the time I was expecting us to do a lot of walking over the next few days on vacation.

But before we got back to the hotel, both my wife's knee and hip were bothering her so it was good that we turned around when we did.

The boardwalk is now completely done and done nicely. Now the problem will be to find a place to park. There are a few pay lots in town but we are either stopping at Grandma's to eat or a hotel for the night so we have never had to pay to park.

Our 2nd walk was later that evening when this picture was taken. Again we walked the 'about 1/2 mile' to the station. So I guess that makes it about a mile round trip walk.

Our 3rd walk was the next morning. We again walked to the station, but this time we also walked around the station to get a better look at it. We were in the station once when it had a shop or shops in it a few years ago. Now it is an 'Inn' with five rooms.

Today we walked a little further and instead of walking back to the hotel, we continued on past the hotel and out to the lighthouse. Google puts that walk at a 1-1/2 miles.
