2021 07 11 - Grand Marias

Picture - The 'trail' between the street and the water is called the Gitchi Gami State Trail. And there are stretches of that trail from Grand Marais to Two Harbors. I am not sure if the plan is to connect them all some day?

There are only two places in town now to have breakfast. The other couple had eaten at one of them yesterday so we decided to try the other one today.

South of the Border. Someone younger than us had to explain that it was not Mexican food. We are south of the CANADIAN border.

We had looked online and they show being open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch. But we got there and it was closed. Just a little had written sign taped to the door. Closed Sat July 10 and Sun July 11.

So we walked to the only place in town serving breakfast, the Blue Water. No waiting but we had to split the group in two. Good food.

Google shows that walk as less than a half mile and we did a short cut down the back alley so it was even less than that.

This evening we walked to the Angry Trout. The place doesn't have a parking lot, ever. Usually you have to park on the street. Now there isn't a street to park on. And our wait was still one hour. The food is that good.

Our walk down and back came to 3/4 of a mile. Sidewalk except where it was taken out for the road. Easy walk if you are not stuffed. No up hill, down hill.

So we will have done another three plus miles today.
