Picture - taken at the Grand Marais overlook.
Slow start for the day. Short walk to get donuts.
Then finally around noon we head out up the Gunflint Trail, its a road almost to the border. We stop a couple of places on the way up but only walk a few feet from our car.
We decided to stop at the Gunflint Lodge, but they were only serving lodge guests and even they had to have reservations. Not enough help.
So we headed up to the trails end, there is a cafe there. But there was road construction before we got there and two of the four of us wanted to head back.
Most of the way back we stopped at the __ . (I can't find the name right now) This was one of the places we stopped on the way up but we weren't ready to eat then.
After we ate is when we stopped at the overlook. Lots of trails heading out from there. I thought it was called the Grand Marais Overlook, but it looks like it is just the parking lot for the Pincushion Mountain Trail. Maybe next year we will be up for it.
Finally when we got back, one of our grand-daughters wanted to go eat. And walk there.
That was our first walk, and it was a half mile each way. To My Sister's Place. Another place where they were only using half the tables. And it was a 20 minute wait. Likely not enough staff.
Once we got back to the hotel, my wife and I went on another walk. No one has wanted to go to the lighthouse with us so we haven't gone. We still haven't. We talked about it, but I'm older than I was last year and my wife is not wanting to jump in after me if I fall in so I will stay on flat ground.
My wife did make a good point. I've never asked anyone else if they would jump in after me ???
So we walked the same walk as last night, up past the Angry Trout. But this time we walked a little further and then took a detour to see if a coffee shop was still in business. It was.
We did turn around before we had any issues walking. Actually my wife hasn't had any issues the last couple of days so hopefully it was a short term issue.
