PICTURE - More shells here than at Loves Key beach.
We had looked up this place and it looked like it would be more sheltered from the wind and the lighthouse is at the point of the island so there is beach on three sides. By looking it up we also knew that the cost would be $5 per car.
But we hadn't looked at the route and the causeway is a toll road which adds another $6. But we had planned on going so we didn't let that stop us. There are places along the causeway where people were parking, two places had restrooms and they would have been no charge to park and walk there.
Parking is park where you can, pay at the kiosk and put the receipt in your window. And it is $5 an hour not $5 per day.

PICTURE - There were also more people.
It had been sunny while we were eating between the two parks but was mostly cloudy again by the time we arrived here. The trees did provide enough wind break that it was pleasant walking.
We walked for most of the hour.
The brush on the tip of the island is right up to the water so we would have had to walk inland somewhere to get to the other side of the island. We didn't.
Here there were a couple of people 'sun bathing' but both times when we walked past they were wrapped up.
We did pay quite a bit to get into these two parks for the brief time we were there, but as travelers, we are carrying everything with us and we feel that thieves are less likely pay to be able to break into cars. Also they would either have to go past a gate or cross a two mile bridge. Not easy to blend into the traffic on a two lane highway with bumper to bumper traffic.
