Picture - This area is also known as 'Forty Steps.'
We had given ourselves a couple of days off between work and a family event so we headed to the only state of the lower 48 that BB had not been in. Rhode Island.
As long as we were in the state, I had looked up a cemetery with more than one relative. It was right in down town, unkept, unmarked and likely used by the homeless overnight. We didn't even walk in there. Instead we headed out of downtown to a hotel.
Overnight we looked for a park next to the water. This was it. These are the only steps and the only reason to walk them is to get closer to the water. They don't even go to a beach, just down.
The rest of the walk is almost level and I think it was all paved. Rough numbers, I think it was about a half mile to the north where we walked.
Then if we had walked to the south, it would have been over a half mile of street walking just to get to where we could access the trail again. By listening to other walkers, the south trail is 'the one' local's take visitors on. It is longer and likely even more scenic.

Picture - This is looking south from the 'forty steps' area. It was closed off for a few blocks right there but the path follows right above the cliff.
