Picture: The first view of the falls. There is also a person who climbed over the fence to try to get a better picture. Just to the left of the three while birch trees.

After yesterdays walk we were very away of steps. We were going to avoid them as much as possible. Going down them is OK, but not to do too many up. We know we are parking higher than the road so if there are too many steps we will just walk back to our car on the road.

Their map does not have the distance but it looks like about 1/10th of a mile from where we parked to the falls. It is listed as 'easy' but there is a steep incline and then about a dozen steps back down to the falls.

After that it was all down hill from there. There are miles and miles of trails but we followed the river down stream. Lots of steps, lots of decline without steps.

Where there are waterfalls there is beauty ... and lots of change in elevation.

Not sure how this works, but we walked down the west side of the river and it was steep, stairs or without stairs. Heading back inland from the lake there were not any stairs (that I remember) and no huge or steep incline.

There were a couple of places we could have taken shortcuts to get back to the parking lot before the bridge but we kept along the shore line, quite a ways above the shoreline, back to the bridge.

From there we have to climb the dozen steps to get back to the parking lot. It looks like the road trip took us less than an hour including the time we sat on the rocks at Lake Superior. Lots of people passed us walking, we are not setting speed records anymore.

Picture: Here are some of the stairs we came down on the west side of the river. There were not any inclines this steep on the east side.
