Picture: was taken under the lighthouse. In the distance is the break wall that we walk on to get to the lighthouse.

This used to be a walk we did more than once a day when we had younger kids with us. This year we only made the trip once. For a ways, the top 'walking area' is only about three feet wide. A few years ago they put a cable up again for people to hang on to as they walked but by the next year it was broken. Assuming the ice and waves take it down every winter.

As long as there is someone young enough to dive in after me, I guess I will keep walking it. It is tradition. Part of the way we walk on the rocks and depending on how far we walk on the rocks we have to hoist ourselves up onto the path. That is getting harder each year.

My guess is it is a couple of blocks out to the lighthouse. There are a few steps but otherwise it is flat. Balance is the issue.

There really isn't a flat area to walk in the area called Artist's Point. The south side and east end are all rock that can be walked on. On the north side it is more like a rock climbing challenge for amatures. I have done it a few times but this walk we had a five year old with us so we took the inland route. It is not flat either but you aren't in danger of dropping into the water.

I'm guessing distance wise this walk is only a couple of blocks each direction also.

We also walk the streets which adds up after a while. Nice weather. Seems the weather is 10+ degrees cooler here than in Duluth or Two Harbors.
