California coast

Today was a few stops along the coast. We were traveling with my wife's sister and her husband.

1st we stopped in Jenner at the visitor's center. Not much of a walk here, a few car lengths to their deck.

2nd stop was Sunset Boulder at Goat Park. Here we did hike out to the higher point at the end of the parking lot, but again less than a half hour out of the car.

3rd stop was Salmon Beach Park. This was just an overlook a few feet from our car.

4th stop was the Spud Point Crab Company to eat. ( I did not have fish )

5th stop was less than a mile from where we ate. At the Bodega Head Trail. Here we split up as BB and I can walk further than the other two. We may have walked a half mile out and a half mile back. Mostly level but also mostly single file. From the trail we could see and hear the sea lions (?) barking. I tried to record them but they are not nearly as loud on tape as they sounded live.

The trail is quite a few feet above the water so there is a good view of the ocean and of the bay.

I just noticed when looking a Google maps that their ID picture is almost exactly the one I am using above. So I'm guessing that is where the picture was taken.

Retracing our trail, we head back. We stop again at Goat Park, but this time we drive to the Goat Rock Beach parking lot and park. Our plan was to walk to the end of the peninsula where we hoped we could see the seals.

But once we get to the top of the first sand dune and see how much further we would have to walk in the loose sand, we decide to head back to the car.

From there we drive down a sometimes one lane road to the south beach. We parked and BB and I walked a little, and took a few pictures.

From there we headed to our last stop. We go past the welcome center and up the hill to the Jenner Lookout Point. From there we can look down at the sea lions (?) Looking down 5-10 stories. So we can see them, but are not very close. The walk here was from the car doors to the front of the car. So not a lot of steps, but a lot of fresh air and good views.
