After not being at this mall for five plus years, we were back twice within about a week. Since then I have done a lot of reading up on the history and changes of this mall.

With so few customers, it's easy to park near a entrance door in cold weather. And inside there is security walking around. Other than security, there were not a whole lot of other people. The 19th was a Sunday AM and some of the stores were not open yet so it looked even more vacated.

The second time was a Saturday and later in the day so all of the open stores were open. My guess is that the mall is about 20% full, the lowest of any area malls. And now Macy's is closing so that will leave only JC Penny's where this location used to have four anchor's.

But it sounds like even though this mall was the largest, until the MOA, it has never been a great sales area compared to same chains in similar area's.

Online you can find stories that range from maps of what will happen when it is torn down to the newest owner planning on expanding the existing mall (That was before Macy's said they would exit) There is a new food section in the area under Dicks that was to have opened a year ago and is still not open.

It sounds like the newest plan is to make this an ethnic mall, that may work if they can be the first ones. Northtown, Maplewood and Eden Prairie are already each getting one area of their malls for that purpose.

It sounds like this is the same layout for the food court as when the mall opened.

About half the food slot's were still open, but only one, Kemps Ice Cream, was still there from when I took my last picture 5+ years ago. All the chains are gone, replaced by ethic foods shops that didn't change any of the prior decore.

Easy place to walk without having to change your pace because of shoppers.
