Original plan had been to drive to a beach somewhere. But by the time we got going, the maps all showed red on the highways near the beaches. We thought because it was rather cool temps that they might not be as crowded but here the temps don't really move that much.
Then my wife found a park a couple of miles from us, Los Penasquitos Canyon Trailhead. It didn't look like there was much of an incline on that one. But when we got there they sign said closed and the gate was locked so not really anywhere to park.
So while I drove, my wife looked online until we got to this park. This one was different. Her map my walk said it was over a 100 foot change in elevation. So we got a workout. My wife did better than I which is unusual. She is the one usually having to stop. This walk I stopped three times on the way back up the hill.
Not just because I was winded but also my leg was still bothering me a little from all the walking yesterday.
Today our walk at this park was about a mile. First we walked down the hill until the path cross the river ... no bridge. So we turned around there. Then walked back up the hill and walked on the cement path around the ball parks for the rest of our time.
If you can't see the bottom of the path, it might not be the best path for walking. Better for someone wanting to hike.
By the looks of the map there may be as many as a dozen places to walk in this wooded ravine. City park, no fee. Lots of parking at this location.
