We have been to this park before, but have always come in from the other direction and didn't remember how much parking there was. So as soon as we found a place to park, we made a u-turn, mid street and parked.
We hadn't done any research on the area and found that some of the paths were closed due to storm erosion. In those cases, we just walked on the shoulder of the road until we got passed that area. The area between the water and the road is not very wide. But most of the closures are from the path down to the water.
This is Asilomar State Beach. The beach is free, the parking is free and the paths have very little elevation change. But the paths in some places are boardwalk, other places are sand and those vary in width. Also some area's that are not closed, due have the guide cable cutting across drop offs.
We didn't get passed it this time, but there are now two house on that side of the street that the path crosses their property near the street. There used to just be one house so I'm guessing the city allowed them to split the lot to add a second house.
We did notice when we left that there was a sand beach east of where we started and it was starting to fill up by the time we left.
There also are paths across the street from the beach. We have not been on those or looked at a map to see how many or how far they go.
After our <> 1+ walk there, we moved our car down the street to the area known as having the John Denver memorial stone. I have seen on Yelp and other places how hard it is to find. Looking at Google,
