NOTE: THIS IS BEING WRITTEN UP FOUR MONTHS LATER.

We had dropped RV's in ID a few days ago. With no more RV work and no bus work we decided to just take a few days off. We had canceled our July vacation this year so really hadn't done a vacation this year.

When we dropped we had to push it to get out of the mountains before it started snowing, we made it before it snowed but have spent the last few days with mostly rain. The one time we did try to walk we got a block and it started dumping again so we were soaked before getting back to our car. Finally tonight the weather looks good.

This park is about 10 mile from our hotel in Crescent City. We have time before getting to the hotel tonight and we haven't walked for a week or so, even in parking lots so we squeeze this one in.

What the map didn't show is that after we got off the road, it was miles before we got to a trail head. Mostly single lane, 4WD type road on the sides of hills. Luckily we had some kind of SUV so we were not bottoming out.

The trail we picked was pretty much like the picture shows. Single file paths. We'd stop at a wide spot as soon as we saw someone so they had to walk past us on the down side.

And the trail was going up, to something. Not a steep climb, not steep enough so there were washouts or steps but enough so that we could feel it. Luckily the trail went up, so once we turned around it was all down hill.

No paved parking lot. Narrow trails with elevation changes. On an un-paved road where normal cars would bottom out. Keep that in mind.

Instead of back tracking to the road we decided to keep going, the road couldn't get any worse? Right?

We did go passed a few gates, that may be why the maps didn't show this as an option. But the gates were open and we kept going. A few miles and then the road was paved. Still no center line but smooth and paved.And we got to our hotel.
