Big, downed, tree
Big, downed, tree

NOTE: THIS IS BEING WRITTEN UP FOUR MONTHS LATER.

The sign at the trailhead said it was the Rockefeller Loop Trail, of the Humboldt Redwood State Park.

The story of this stop is more about the road than the walk. My wife had a place in mind on this road, but we never got to it. This road was paved but only wide enough to meet another car if one of them was stopped. It was also the main road to a few towns in the area. So also lots of trucks. After a few miles of this, my wife had finally had enough and we turned around where we could. My wife was getting a better view of the road side, Where the trees were not redwoods, we were looking down on the tree tops, right next to the roadway. Don't remember if there were guard rails or not.

Not wanting to waste the trip, we pulled off at a marked path. That was a one lane drop into the valley bottom where the parking was.

No paved parking, no underbrush so parking was where you could find it. Also no underbrush so we had to watch where the trail was supposed to go. Trails were not marked or paved.

The area was mostly flat except where we got on a 2nd trail that went down to water level.

We got our walk in.
