NOTE: THIS IS BEING WRITTEN UP FOUR MONTHS LATER.
One of our more frequent stops in California. It's only a couple of hours from where I pick up the buses in Livermore. The first time we stopped here we did not know that the memorial was here. Then the rock was closer to the water but a major storm came through and either the storm moved it or someone decided it would be good to move it. The first time we saw it, it was like this. On later stops in the old location it had been covered with trinkets. Now those are gone.
Earlier today we had stopped in Gilroy for garlic, we do that once or twice a year. Then we stopped here in Pacific Grove at a sandwich shop. The shop is just wide enough for two people to meet. The line, and those leaving. Most sandwiches are done by the time you order and pay.
After eating near the memorial, we went for a short walk. It's only a few blocks to a public bathroom but we usually walk a little further the other direction to get a mile walk in. The walk here is flat, but varies from sidewalk, to a dirt path, to boardwalk and shoulder of the street. Parking is free and most people only stay a few minutes. Other than us.
When we stop here, we often also stop a mile or so down the road at Sunset Beach. Long sand trails above the ocean. But now we have decided to make it to San Diego, or close, if we can tonight.
