We spent most of our time in Charleston sitting in our cabin, watching the ships come and go from the port.
Today we decided to go somewhere and this was it. A week plus ago I had taken all my extra cards out of my wallet when we went to the Festival and forgot to put them back. So again, we didn't use our National Parks Pass. We had to pay ...
We got there just a a speaker was starting and we stood and listened to them for a while. Interesting. Two of the group are not good with steps, with no railings so we kind of each went our own ways. Not enough of a walk to start the walk meter but still some walking. The fort was across the city street from the office. Not a high fort and they didn't explain the why of that.
There is also a fort on the other side of the bay that we did not go to. That one is more out in the middle of the water. This one had been at one time. The area is called Sullivan's Island. But the water around the island was shallow enough the ships couldn't sail.
Lots of history here.
$10 per person, on site parking is free.
