No work for the weekend, major snow storm between here and home and at home. So we stayed in the southeast for a few more days. This was one of the closest rural parks.
It was about 30 miles from where I had dropped in Charlotte on Friday.
No fee.
In the AM we did a walk near the welcome center. We did see one butterfly. And later on the walk we saw a few turtles sunning themselves.
We walked most of an hour in the AM. The start of some paths were paved but not for very far. In this area there were a few step, A half dozen or so in any one spot. But mostly level.
Then we moved our car and found a place to eat under a shelter.
Then in the afternoon we moved again and walked another hour plus. This time it was a lot more up and down. No paved trails that we saw.
More turtles, one bird with a large nest on an island.
The trails in the park are marked. Every so often there was a number attached to a tree. If you knew where to look you could see one number from the next.
Less than two hours walking today so we were not pushing it.
